Studio Update

The new studio should be ready to shoot in by this weekend.  Last night the second coat of polyurethane went down, and the final coat should go on tonight.  If you’re ready for portraits, let’s get something scheduled!

Hardwood Flooring

I found a little extra time this evening to compile the time lapse of my studio floor being installed.  Most of the person you can see is me.

Now I just need to get the finish on it so it can be used.  I’m really excited about having a place to shoot again!

So, without further ado, here’s the video.

Hardwood Flooring

I love the look of hardwood floors.  I don’t love the feeling I have in my elbow and knees now after helping install a little over 2000 square feet of the stuff over the last week or so.  The upside is that the  Ripple Theater now has a new hardwood stage that looks beautiful!  My studio now has most of the floor installed too!  Today I spent several hours sanding the stage to prepare for finish to be started tomorrow.  Hopefully both floors will be done within the next week.

I’m getting excited and looking forward to having a studio again for photo shoots.  While I love shooting outside and on location, sometimes a studio is just more user friendly and much easier to control the lighting.

I’ll actually have some photos of the floor in the studio when it’s done.
I’ve been shooting a time lapse series while I’ve been working on it, so it should be a fun video by the time it’s finished.

Studio Progress

Over the last week we’ve made some progress on the new studio.  Tammy and Paul came down and helped me install the sub flooring for the new hardwood floor.  It’s ready for the hardwood now.  I want to take a small section of the plaster off the ceiling before the new floor goes in though.  Since the plaster makes a big mess coming down, I don’t want the new floor to be underneath it when it falls.  Exposing the steel rafters will let me hang some lights and backgrounds from the ceiling and save some floor space in the smallish area.  Hopefully it will be ready in the next couple weeks, but no promises yet.

Oh yes, Happy New Year!  I hope your coming year is filled with challenges and the joy of meeting them and overcoming!
