Art Warehouse Class
On Sunday, I had the privilege of facilitating a class at the Art Warehouse with some of the top portrait artists in the country. Mike, Mia, Michelle, Steve, and Gordon were a fun group to interact with and get to know just a little bit. I hope to have the chance to spend more time with them soon.
We talked about cameras and how to adjust them for different environments. Then we explored some different lighting options. We tested out soft-boxes and umbrellas with flashes. Then, we used some “hot” lights in soft-boxes. We also experimented with reflectors and diffusion to give our subject nice wrap-around light.
I know I enjoyed meeting and talking with these talented artists. I hope they gained some skills that will help as they capture images to paint from.
Lila
Two of my good friends just had a wonderful experience yesterday. Chad and Vernie welcomed a beautiful new addition to their family. The beautiful Lila joined them at 7 pounds 15 oz. and 20.5 inches long.
Today they allowed me to share a little time with them and I had the privelege of capturing some images I hope they’ll cherish.
Meghan and Chris
I spent a great three days last week at Imaging USA in Nashville. For those that don’t know what it is, it’s the national convention for Professional Photographers of America. There were some great classes and inspiring instructors!
That’s not why I’m doing this post though. While I was in Nashville, I took advantage of the opportunity to sneak away and capture some fun engagement pictures of Meghan and Chris. They are getting married 3 months from today!
We spent some time in a little park overlooking the city, first. It was extremely dark up there, and quite chilly, but a beautiful view of the city. After getting sufficiently cold, we decided to go down to the Parthenon and take some more pictures there.
I had a great time, and hope Meghan and Chris did also! Enjoy the video below!
Imaging USA - Sunday
Today was fun at Imaging USA. I sat in on 3 programs about stock photography today. It was interesting hearing some of the history of the field and changes that have happened and are happening now.
The expo was fun. I didn’t get to see all the vendors today, but what I saw was overwhelming. There are so many choices for the same products. However, occasionally, I found something which either no one else had or at a price that can lead to some savings for myself and my clients. I’m looking forward to going back again tomorrow!
Canon is putting on a party tonight with live music and other fun. It’s called Rockin’ Nashville!
